A major part of Mandarin Chinese Communication is the daily news briefing related to gender and women's development. This information is important for the company to stay informed of the latest events. In Malaysia, some news is sometimes covered by the Chinese media only.
The company also actively engages external parties such as private companies and the press as part of its communication work. A handbook with English and Chinese vocabulary related to their work is critical as an internal reference.
Engagement with followers on social media is also part of the company's advocacy work. There are some members of the public who have inquiries about the company activities but feel more confident communicating in Mandarin Chinese.
During our discussion session, I do my best to understand my client's goals and desired results, so that I can transfer them into my work and meet their expectations.
A news briefing is provided to the CEO and the Communication Officer in a Whatsapp group every morning. It is a summary of news in point form that is extracted from local Chinese news media including Kwong Wah Yit Poh, Sin Chew Daily, Guang Ming Daily, China Press, Nanyang Siang Pau, and Buletin Mutiara.
Relevant news is then scheduled to post on the company's Facebook page with a Chinese caption. The posting time is chosen based on the time when their followers are the most active.
Followers who commented or made inquiries in Chinese are engaged on a daily basis. This helps to maintain a positive relationship between the company and its followers.
All useful vocabulary is then updated daily on a Google Sheet shared with both CEO and the Communication Officer. They may refer to it at any time for internal and external use.
